Hardware can fail, lightning can
strike, computers can be stolen or rendered useless from water or fire
damage. Any of these events could have a catastrophic effect on
important data. A UK insurance survey published by The
Register in September, 2003,"revealed that a massive 90 per cent of
firms that lose data from a disaster are forced to close within two
years, while eight in ten companies without a contingency plan go bust
if they suffer fire or flood damage". Lincan will design a back up
and recovery plan to ensure a minimum of downtime should the
unthinkable
occur.
